At the end of the training attendees will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate integrated information about how the brain functions and how this relates to interventions with clients or students:
  • How the brain develops and how to use this information in applied cases;
  • The fundamentals of neural structures and their functioning as well as the implications for mental disorders;
  • The neuroscience of safety and its role in the development of different attachment styles;
  • Basic mechanisms of implicit and explicit learning, of avoidance and approach behaviour, and the implications of the needs for safety, control and pleasure maximization and pain avoidance;
  • The development of neural networks of wellness and pathology and the implications of memory consolidation and positive neural plasticity in professional practice;
  • The role of safety, attachment, control, motivation and resilience from a neurobiological perspective and an understanding of the impact of these concepts in various pathologies.
  2. Have an understanding of the applications of neuroscience in neuropsychotherapy in a range of clinical settings and demonstration of capacity to guide clients with a range of psychopathologies towards higher levels of wellness
  • On completion of the training, a Certificate of Associate membership of the International Association of Applied Neuroscience (IAAN) is awarded.
